Nautitech Exclusive Days
Clarissa headed down to the Nautitech factory this month which is located In Rochefort, on the West coast of France. Nautitech held exclusive days for clients to test sail the 44 Open and take an exclusive tour of the factory to learn more about the build process of the performance multihulls. There are several opportunities to visit the factory or test sail their models throughout the year. Both the 44 Open and 40 Open will be on display at the International Multihull Show in La Grande Motte between 12th and 16th April.
A new arrival in Hamble…
The new J/45 hull #5 arrived in Hamble at the beginning of the month, having travelled from Germany after her display at Dusseldorf Boat Show in January. Hull #5 is the first British J/45, she is currently being commissioned and will set sail with her owner on Solent waters very soon.
The J/45 is the newest model in the J/Boat range, it is an exciting offshore sailing yacht that can be sailed solo, cruised by 2-3 couples or large family and raced with room for the whole crew.
Hull #5 is a great addition to the Solent based J fleet.
Pip Hare explains the outside gybe
Yachting World gave us another installment of Pip Hare’s double handed sailing series, this month explaining the outside gybe.
“Outside gybing an asymmetric spinnaker is an under-utilised technique by the average sailor – either as a double handed sailing skill or in a fully crewed environment. It can be trickier to learn than other techniques, and may require a little adaptation of your boat, but the outside gybe has some significant advantages over the inside gybe”
The series gives double handed sailors or those interested in sailing double handed, the best techniques, tips and key manoeuvres for smooth sailing, and what better boat to demonstrate on than Key Yachting’s J/99!

Entries for the J Cup are now open!
Entries for the 2023 edition of the Key Yachting J Cup Regatta opened this month. This year the regatta is taking place at the Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble from Thursday 15th to Saturday 17th June. We are expecting over 60 boats to be racing including the addition of the first J/99 Class Nationals. More information regarding the event will be announced in the run up to the regatta but make sure to enter now!

Jam is finally back in the water!
As the sailing season gets closer, lots of boats are heading back in the water. Key Yachting’s J/99 Jam was relaunched at the end of the month and placed back in her berth in Port Hamble Marina. Key Yachting owner and director, Wayne Palmer commented “I am very excited to be heading into Jam’s first full season this summer, it will be a great chance to get to know the boat even better this year and take part in lots of exciting regattas and races.”
