J/Boats success ahead of the season
The Pwllheli Sailing Club based J/109 Mojito continues to shine. After their Overall IRC win in the ISORA cross-channel race and a total of eight races including in the IRC Welsh Championships, Mojito now leads the ISORA points table and the top of the Irish offshore fleet.
Fellow club member, the J/125 Jackknife is currently lying in 3rd overall.
Both boats are entered into the next race, the 260-mile Volvo Dun Laoghaire to Dingle Race which takes place next month.
In the UK, this weekend saw a number of wins for J Boats in RORC’s Vice Admirals Cup. In the J/111 One Design class, Tony Mack’s McFly took the lead followed by JourneyMaker II and Jagerbomb. Jago took the top spot in the J/109 class.
In RORC’s North Sea Race, Dutch J/122E Ajeto! came in first overall in IRC, winning both IRC 2 and IRC Two Handed.

JOG’s One Sails Yarmouth Race also took place this weekend.
On day 1, Stuart Lawrence’s J/120 Scream 2 was sitting in 3rd place in Class 1. In Class 2 David McGough’s J/109 sat in 1st. In the double handed class, Tom Hayhoe and Natalie Jobling’s J/105 Mostly Harmless took 3rd place by the end of the day.
By the end of day 2, the J/120 Scream 2 managed to push up to 1st place in Class 1. In class 2, David McGough’s J/109 Just So maintained 1st place with the J/105 Jacana closely following in 3rd.
The new J/45 took 4th place overall in Class 1, a fantastic result for its first full race and hopefully just the start of a successful first season of racing.
