J-Boat success at Volvo Cork Week 2022

192 boats and around 2,000 sailors took part in Volvo Cork Week 2022 at the Royal Cork Yacht Club in Ireland last week. Racing was held on 5 different courses for 14 classes, the biggest Cork Week for several years.

Sailors were lucky enough to have the sun out for most of the week, but light and shifty winds, resulting in complex racing.

Key Yachting’s J/99 ‘Jam’ made the trip to Ireland for its first Cork Week, along with several other J-Boats from Hamble. Happy Daize J/112 and the Knight Build team came out on top in the Class 1 IRC, closely followed by Louise Makin and Chris Jones’ J/111 Journeymaker 2.

There was also impressive racing from Irish J-Boats, the J/109 Joker 2 won overall in the Class 1 IRC, followed by J/109 Storm in 2nd place. The Coastal Class was won by J/109 Mojito and impressively the Grand Soleil 44 Samatom winning overall in the Coastal IRC ICRA class.

Overall great results from the J-Boat crews and the Grand Soleil 44. It was great to see lots of J-Boats and their crews participating and to catch up with some of our clients and owners from both the UK and Ireland.
