The J/36 is a hugely versatile racer/cruiser yacht, an update of the J/112e design but with the same rig and hull formula that has already proven the concept . In the last year of the production, the J/112 won almost every major regatta in the British Isles as well as Ireland. The J/36 improves on this design, allowing owners to choose between twin-wheel steering as well as a tiller. The J/36 offers upwind performance in varying conditions for its’ size and class. This feeds into an overall easy yet exciting sailing experience, reducing loads and finger tip handling.
The J/36 standard model can also be configured with a carbon rig and IRC optimised keel for those hoping to compete at a high level. The J/36, like the J/112 measures to be competitive against its’ rating under IRC.
Whether it is short-handed offshore or fully-crewed inshore racing the J/36 will continue the legacy of an already hugely successful design.

The evolution of the J/36 lies in its newly designed deck plan. The cockpit floor space is expanded with a twin wheel configuration, allowing easier fore/aft access and same-level transom boarding. The same refined ergonomics that make the J/36 ideal for family cruising also improve crew efficiency during racing maneuvers. The J/36 retains the easy-to-manage sail plan (main and small jib) and sleek hull/underbody of the J/112E, a design whose unique ability to sail well in both light and heavy winds has set it apart from other modern-day cruisers.
The newly designed companionway entrance provides a smooth transition between the cockpit and below. The J/36’s interior features bright and comfortable spaces with numerous handholds and practical storage spaces – all designed for cruising life aboard.

The J/36 joins the J/40 and J/45 to complete the new performance cruising/racing range. Whether you aspire to compete or simply relax, the J/36 is ready to deliver everything you might expect from an uncompromising performance sailboat.
