Hosted by Key Yachting, the J-Cup is an annual regatta exclusively for racing yachts of the J/Boats brand, and all J/Boats models are invited to compete. The J/Cup entails three days of exciting and competitive racing, alternating between our ‘home’ venue in Hamble and other fantastic locations, including Plymouth, Guernsey and Cowes. The excellent race programme is coupled with lively shore-side entertainment to make the J/Cup a must for many of our owners. We have a fabulous set of sponsors who have donated a haul of really great prizes for the final night party, and these will not just go the class winners! The J/Cup is designed to celebrate J/Boats and the J/Boats family; no matter your experience or ability.

The Landsail Tyres J/Cup 2020 is scheduled to take place 3-5 September 2020.

#Update 16 July 2020#

Landsail Tyres J/Cup regatta goes ahead with new eligibility criteria.

Key Yachting would like to invite all J Boat owners to join us at the Landsail Tyres J/Cup 2020 and look forward to seeing you on the water for this event. We would also like to assure you that this regatta will be operated following all the latest Covid-19 guidance from NHS England and the Government.

The Landsail Tyres J/Cup regatta is scheduled to proceed with new eligibility criteria for all J Boat models to attend. Given that Government guidance now allows up to six people from different households to race on the same boat, the RORC Race Management team have set the eligibility criteria for the forthcoming J/Cup.

The RORC have confirmed the criteria for all J Boats racing the event as follows:
• Double handed entries
• Crewed entries – Crews of up to a maximum of 6 people from any household (minimum of 3) OR or two-thirds of a boat’s IRC crew number (rounded down) whichever is the least. This amends IRC rule 22.4.

Therefore, the maximum crew numbers for each J Boat to compete in the J/Cup are as follows:

J Boat model Max. no. of crew J Boat model Max. no. of crew
J/32 4 J/99 4
J/70 3 J/105 5
J/80 4 J/109 5
J/88 4 J/111 5
J/92 4 J/112 5
J/95 4 J/121 6
J/97 4 J/122 6
J/120 6 J/133 6

If you cannot see your J Boat model above and do not have an IRC certificate, please do contact Key Yachting.

Please advise Key Yachting if you intend to race in the J/Cup this year, so that we can plan ahead for the regatta with the RORC race committee.

Please do let us know the following:
• Name and model of boat
• Double handed entry or crew number
• If you require a berth in Cowes Yacht Haven

The online entry is open – see below.
If, for any circumstance outside of our control, the Landsail Tyres J/Cup is cancelled, then full refunds will be given (minus the standard Paypal processing fee).

The RORC Cowes Clubhouse will be offering evening meals for J/Cup competitors and, if at all possible, there be a sit-down Prize-giving Dinner on Saturday 5 September. More details on shoreside arrangements be announced nearer the time.
