Introduction

On display at Southampton Boat Show 15-24 September

The big sister to the extremely successful 40, the new 46 is the latest addition to Bavaria’s new ‘Open’ range of multihulls.

Featuring vast living spaces, maximum comfort for long passages, and ultra modern finishes throughout, the Open 46 is a cruiser’s dream.

This model features many welcome features found on the 40, including twin helm positions (or flybridge if you prefer), a transom passage giving easy access from one hull to the other, rigid bimini providing complete shelter to the cockpit, and gracefully inclined forward saloon windows, creating a sleek and elegant appearance.

The new Open 46 is also available as a Powercat.

In the gallery above, you will see that the 3 cabin version boasts a stunning owner’s hull, with private study/dressing space, and separate heads and shower. In the 4 cabin version, each cabin has its own ensuite.

We can tell you how well these Nautitech by Bavaria Catamarans perform, but it means so much more coming from our owners!

“On Saturday we sailed 97nm upwind in F5/6 to the Channel Islands at an average speed through the water of 7.5kts and around 52TWA. Crew arrived in Alderney intact and in good humour despite the lumpy sea left over from the previous night’s gale. Reminder to self…I must retire so I can pick the days when the weather suits channel crossings. As one of my friend’s dad’s texted me after tracking us (82yo and still sailing in Brittany) “Gentlemen don’t beat!”.

I continue to be very impressed with her sailing performance, even in less than ideal conditions. The Alderney lifeboat had to alter course as she underestimated our speed as we hit 10kts (12 SOG) on the final tack in the flatter water approaching Braye. The helmsman came to find us after we’d picked up a mooring to have a look over the boat and ask how big our (unused!) engines were!!

After a delightful and rapid sail yesterday down the Swinge to Guernsey (with tour round Sark and Herm on the way),she is now tucked up ready for our 2 week cruise next month.”

Features:

• Large open plan galley and living space
• Hot plates
• Recessed oven
• Icebox in the cockpit
• Extra galley and saloon storage places
