Introduction

The new GS 47′ designed by Botin is a development of Botin & Carceek’s 46′, winner of European Yacht of the Year in 2010. Stability and speed are at the heart of the design of this superb 47 footer.

Waterlines on the new GS 47’ come from the most advanced research in the field of fluid dynamics and from the hand of the America’s Cup Designer Marcelino Botin. The construction techniques applied have taken full advantage of the latest technological innovations: hull and deck are built in sandwich construction, the hull is laminated through the process of vacuum-bag infusion, the internal grid pan is made of a composite of carbon and glass fibre, this saves 600kilos in relation to agalvanised steel gridpan, yet is stiffer and stronger. A highly efficient T-shape keel, which lowers the center of gravity, gives the boat one of the highest ballast ratios in the category, guaranteeing maximum safety and comfort whilst cruising and the best performance while racing.

Below decks, style and attention to detail is paramount and typical of every Grand Soleil. The standard interior layout offers a practical and functional solution with an ‘L’ shaped galley, three cabins and two heads, and is characterised by a very bright and a fresh style, thanks to numerous natural light points and solid wood elements in alternation with white linear surfaces. Great attention has also been placed on the number of storage compartments and the large chart table that is capable of taking full size paper charts.
